Unit 6: Social media and globalisation

What type of social media channel is Twitter? Is a micro-blogging channel.  Define the term globalisation.  This is when a social media platform is used globally from companies, public and creators. Can be used to distribute products throughout the world, can be a positive (globalising everything for everyone) and negative (can have negative impacts on people) thing.  How does Wikinomics link to change in media production. The global economy has changed due to technology, the consumer can become the prosumer, changed who can and cannot make money online due to the technology increase.

 What are the purposes of social media channels and products? Globalisation- the production, distribution and consumption of media products on a global scale, facilitating the exchange and diffusion of ideas cross-culturally. However, some have argued that media is actually a partial cause of globalisation, rather than just another globalised industry.
