Disadvantages of social media
Moral panic- a theory that can be used to describe the way in which the mass media create folk devils out of products or groups of people. (TikTok - international security concern)

When something spreads virally it can also be a negative thing not just a positive depending if it is true.
Trolling/Cyberbullying - are terms used to describe the way that celebrity/individuals are targeted online in negative ways.
Negative body image/unrealistic expectations - is way in which social media and online technologies can be used to promote false lifestyles, which can be damaging to mental health of teenagers.
Fake products to 'help' body image
Negative publicity for brands or companies-viral memes, parodies, sarcasm are all problems for large brands.
Cultural impact- proliferation of social media cultural imperialism and promotion/obsession with celebrity culture and commodities.
Viral meme- makes fun of something, animated GIF or image that contains text for entertainments and to share ideas
